American and British customs are different from Spanish customs. In this post we will give you a few tips to get to know better the eating habits in the UK and the USA. Just remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day in both the US and the UK.

Special meals

  • Brunch

A combination of breakfast and lunch eaten usually during the late morning, but it can extend to as late as 3pm.The word is a combination of breakfast and lunch. Brunch originated in England in the late 19th century.

  • Elevenses

Is a short break taken at around 11 am to consume a drink or snack of some sort.

  • Tea

Is a light meal typically eaten between 4 and 6pm. Observance of the custom originated amongst the wealthy classes in England in the 1840’s.

Teatime is the time at which the tea meal is usually eaten, which is late afternoon to early evening. Tea as a meal is associated with Britain, Ireland, and some Commonwealth countries.
