What is GoProfe and how does it work?

GoProfe is an online platform that helps to directly connect students and teachers and allows them to schedule language classes at a mutually convenient time.

Students can search for teachers by location (city, neighborhood, or address), key word or price. You can look at teacher profiles until you find one that fits well with your needs as a student.

Once you’ve found the teacher that you want to have a class with, you can contact them by sending a message.

If you send a message to a teacher, the teacher will be able to answer you through GoProfe’s messenger and you will be able to exchange information to better organize your class. There are no additional costs that you have to pay to GoProfe.

We also have a “job board” where you can make a job posting and interested teachers will contact you directly through a private message.

How to find a professor and request a class

Search for a teacher

You can search for a teacher by location, price, experience, interests and/or key word.

Request a class

Once you’ve found a teacher, you can send them a direct message from their profile. The teacher will answer you on GoProfe’s platform or using any contact information that you provided in your initial message.

We advise getting in contact with a couple of teachers to make sure that you’ve found the best one for you.

What do I do if the teacher doesn’t answer my message?

Please keep in mind that we are not a language academy and we do not organize classes. As such, we do not monitor in detail if teachers respond to their messages. If a teacher does not answer, send us an email to info@GoProfe.com and we will try to figure out if they are available as we only want to have active teachers on our platform. We also recommend that you contact another teacher.

Teacher Reviews

We encourage students that have had a class with a teacher from GoProfe to write a review about their experience. This will help other students to get to know the teacher better.
Students can write a review by clicking on the button “Review this teacher” that is underneath their profile photo.

What do I do if a teacher and I can’t understand each other?

Many teachers in Madrid have at least a basic knowledge of languages other than the one that they teach. Still, you can help to facilitate communication by writing short, simple messages. You could also write in the language that you’re hoping to learn (and get some practice at the same time!). If you find it difficult to understand each other, you could use Google Translate or another internet tool. In the worst case scenario, you can also write to us at info@GoProfe.com and we will help you out.

What is the price of a class?

The teacher and student have to agree on a price for each class. Teachers will have a ball-park price listed on their profiles.

When looking for a teacher, the price will depend on the teacher’s experience, the location of the class, and the number/length of classes.

You will also have to agree upon a method of payment with the teacher. Payment is not processed by GoProfe.

Where are classes taught?

Classes will be taught in a place that is convenient for both the teacher and the student: at the home or the teacher or the student, in a café, a library, etc. … or even over Skype.

GoProfe is not a language academy, but rather a webpage that helps teachers and students to find each other. As such, we do not have a physical location where classes are taught.

How do I make and edit a student profile?

You can make a student profile by clicking on the button “I want to be a student” that’s located on the top of the GoProfe page, right next to the logo.

It’s not necessary to have a profile already created in order to contact a teacher. The first time you send a message to a teacher we ask for an email so that you can access the platform and read your messages. With this email you can edit your profile

How do I edit my profile?

Once you’ve registered on the platform, you will have the option to create a more complete profile and upload a photo.

You can edit your profile by clicking on “Edit Profile” in the drop-down menu that appears when you click on “Hello, (your name)” in the upper right corner.

How can I review a teacher?

You can write a teacher review by accessing their profile and clicking on the button “Review this teacher”.

We encourage students that have had a class with a teacher from GoProfe to write a teacher review about how the class(es) went because it helps other students to get to know more about the teacher.

Where is GoProfe?

GoProfe works all over Spain and we are located in Madrid in the Crowdworking space in the Telefónica building on Gran Vía.

About GoProfe

GoProfe was the idea of some English teachers that met each other in Madrid. The idea came from frustration with the difficulties of finding classes in a convenient location (it can be complicated) and receiving payment (sometimes it doesn’t happen). We realized that other teachers shared our frustrations. At the same time, because we are native English speakers, Spanish friends and acquaintances often asked us if we knew a teacher to give a private in such-and-such neighborhood on such-and-such day. GoProfe was created to solve everyone’s problems.

How do I erase or reactivate my GoProfe account?

We hope that you don’t want to leave GoProfe! But if you do, log in and open the dropdown menu where it says “Hello, (your name)”. Select “Edit profile”. At the bottom of the page, click “Cancel my account” and voila, that’s it.
